Thank you for taking the time to visit our class page, we hope you find it useful, interesting and informative.

All our staff work hard to build and maintain superb working relationships with children and parents to ensure that our children achieve their potential.   Please do feel free to come and say ‘hello’ on a morning or afternoon whilst you drop off your child and collect them from school.

All our teaching in Year 5 is delivered with the idea that our most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work.   We don’t believe in the word ‘can’t’ in Year 5, and instead are working hard to try our best with a growth mind set: before we can achieve, we must first make some mistakes as they are crucial to our learning.

Children in Year 5 have a rich and exciting curriculum. Our Autumn topic is It's A Scream. This will be used as a stimulus for our writing in literacy, and will link to history and geography work on Whitby, as well as our Thriller dance in PE.  Our writing skills will develop across all subjects in science, history, geography and R.E.   In maths we are securing our understanding of place value to 1,000,000 and growing in understanding and confidence at using the four operations of number.

Please follow us on Twitter @stlawrencesy5 to see photos, questions and updates.

To help your child- please get involved.  Be excited about reading with them and talk to them about their learning.
